[It's simply scandalous! Sure, he would have no problem being in such close quarters with a fellow boy, but a boy and girl walking so close together? This kind of proximity should be saved for after marriage! And somehow, he feels especially shy next to Sayaka. It must be her celebrity status! That could make this even more of a scandal.

But Sayaka's gentle response helps to keep his worries at ease. So Ishimaru tries not to dwell on any of those things. Right now, the most important matter is seeing Sayaka to help dorm as dry as possible! He has one hand gripping the umbrella's handle firmly, while trying to keep it appropriately spaced from Sayaka's hand.

He answers her with a firm nod.]

Yes! I am fully prepared! I am sure that this will be over before we know it... Now, let us proceed cautiously!

[With that, he starts to step forward! And he tries to keep his movements in step with Sayaka's.]

[ His nervousness is honestly really endearing to witness, she giggles with an air of fondness surrounding her. Out of all the boys in their class, Ishimaru is definitely one of the few she felt comfortable walking this close with. His respectful nature never fails to put her at ease. ]

Yeah! It might be a bit slippery, so let's do our best to be careful.

[ In rhythm with Ishimaru's footsteps, she also takes a step forward and begins walking across the pathway.

Although she tries to keep her distance, it's somewhat of a difficult feat while sharing a small umbrella. Every so often, she could feel her shoulder accidentally brushing against his. It's then all of a suddenly, Sayaka becomes quiet. She hums to herself, looking as if a thought had crossed her mind. ]

Ah, Ishimaru-kun. I do have to ask... are you comfortable with getting your picture taken? Because you know, there's a chance some stray paparazzi might catch us and you could potentially end up in a magazine article with me.

[So far, so good! Step by step together, they're managing it. It's nice to move together in a machine-like manner! Although at the same time, despite his best efforts, they do brush up against each other a bit. And he tries not to audibly react, though his cheeks start to flush. This is such inappropriate, forbidden contact! But it's okay, they'll make it through this.

But then she brings up the paparazzi, and Ishimaru turns redder, his movements slowing to a halt in his surprise.]

Wh-what? Paparazzi?! Th-that... We have to avoid such a thing! If any photos were taken of us in s-such a position... They would sprout such inappropriate rumors! I- I do not want either of our reputations to be harmed by some false misunderstanding...!

[He's sure any reasonable student council would slay him for being in such a position!]

[ I can't believe we're living in a timline where Ishimaru dies before the murder game even happens.

She falls silent while listening to Ishimaru's concerns. From the way she's grimacing, it certaintly appears as though she's taking his words to heart. Their current predicament would be quite bad for the both of them, not only would her career be at stake, but Ishimaru would never live a peaceful life ever again should the rumors escalate. She closes her eyes for a few brief seconds before letting out an exhale.

In a flash, her serious expression breaks and she starts to giggle non-stop. ]

Just kidding! Sorry, Ishimaru-kun. I couldn't help myself.

[ It wasn't a funny joke at all, Sayaka. ]

As far as I know, the school's security have been quite good at deterring journalists. So we should be safe.

[And so before a body can be discovered, Ishimaru finds himself hearing a melody of giggles erupting from the idol. And he stares blankly for a moment as he realizes that he has been played.]

Ah... Ah, I see! That was a joke that you played on me. Well done... You certainly 'got' me, Maizono-kun!

[He says that with a somewhat forced laugh.]

Though I cannot say that I fully approve of such deceptive humor. But your point is true, of course. Hope's Peak Academy has the most effective security that brilliant young minds could hope to be protected by! [Nothing's getting by them!] We do not have to worry about prying eyes after all. We can just... take it easy, and make our way towards dry shelter!

[ His forced laugh makes her want to poke fun at him even more but she really needs to stop. Poor Ishimaru has had a rough day and she certainly hasn't made it any better. ]

You're right. Our campus' security is very efficent, I feel at ease being protected by them.

[ AND THEN ENOSHIMA JUNKO HAPPENED but that's for another story.

His point about her deceptive humor is very true as well. It's about time she makes it up to him. ]

I really have caused you a lot of trouble today. So, as soon as we get back to the dorms I'd be quite happy if you allow me to prepare you some tea and snacks. We'll need to do whatever we can to prevent you from catching a cold.

Quite! I feel quite safe walking these grounds!

[Surely nothing will ever go wrong ever anywhere near this school! He's glad that he and his friends can enjoy this security.

And as she goes on, he smiles lightly.]

Ah...! That is quite nice of you, Maizono-kun! I do not wish to impose on you in any way. But that would be quite nice! I... certainly would be appreciative of that, and I would happily make it up to you sometime!

You're not imposing on me at all! And don't worry about making it up to me. If anything, I'm the one that owes you since you got soaked on my behalf.

[ Not to mention stressing him out with her lame jokes. The poor guy has been through so much in such a short amount of time. ]

Consider it my treat. I sincerely can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me today.

[All this gratitude! It makes him blush a little.]

I- I suppose that you are correct. I... did do a favor for you, though I did not mean to request anything in return! I must commend you for your kindness, Maizono-kun!

[He beams at her. ... But then his expression shifts when looking down ahead of them.]

Maizono-kun, look out!!

[He tries to bring them both to a halt!!

Because right in front of them is a muddy puddle.]

[ Had he not warn her in advance, she would have fallen victim to the dread mud puddle.

In her best efforts in trying to avoid the messy puddle, she hurriedly takes a few steps back. However, she's a bit too hasty in her movements and in the process, crashes into Ishimaru's chest. ]

Uh, thanks for the warning Ishimaru-kun.

[ Due to having the wind knocked out of her after that crash, it hasn't dawned on her that she accidentally got a bit too close to him. Um. Oops? ]

A-ah!

[And suddenly Sayaka Maizono is right up against his chest! His cheeks glow red, and as a reflex, his free arm starts to wrap around her, before he catches himself and pulls back.]

It- it is fine! I just wanted to make sure that you did not step into the mud. [He glances at her shyly, feeling his cheeks heat up.] Y-you, uh... you are...

[espert]

Ah...

[ Talk about a delayed reaction. It takes Sayaka a bit to process what's going on and when it finally dawns on her, her face flushes into several shades of red. ]

I-I'm so sorry Ishimaru-kun...!

[ Oh gosh, she surely has been causing him a lot of trouble today. Guilt starts to eat away at her and not wanting to embarrass him any further, Sayaka hastily backs away in order to put some distance between them.

Only one small problem... through her attempt at withdrawing, she backed off a bit too far and out of the umbrella's shield of protection. Now she's the one getting soaked by the rain.

She just stands there, silent and kind of low-key looking like that girl from The Ring. Well, this stinks. Sorry that your efforts went to waste Ishimaru. ]

[Oh no. Things have quickly gone from bad to worse!

It happens faster than Ishimaru could process! He was already shorting out from the feeling of Sayaka pressed against him. Then in a moment, that warmth was gone, and he found himself looking at a horrifying girl in the rain who looked ready to end his life in seven days-

Wait. That's no monster. In fact, she still looks oddly gorgeous like that - no, it's none other than-]

Maizono-kun!! [He cries out as he beholds the ultimate failure of his mission! There she is, soaked to the bone.] P-please, stay under the umbrella!

[He acts quickly, moving forward and reaching out an arm to pull her back under the umbrella! And against him. Maybe now he really is one-armed hugging her!]
